OMG REM-Obama-flashback

Posted on November 29th, 2008 @ 20:38 in Uncategorized

Let me just blog this here, cuz tonight was the first time I’ve come across an REM update since the election – POSTCARD FROM THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION (R.E.M. MySpace Blog).

This is significant cuz when I went to see them I was in one of my “he’s so not gonna win” phases. And they were quite certain he was. And during the concert I was all “oh man I wish I had your optimism!”

So reading this has got me all emotional again!!!! THEY WERE RIGHT, HE WON, WOOOOO!!!!! πŸ˜€

(forgive me. this morning I thought, sadly, that I can’t really get emotional about his win anymore. now I know I still can. πŸ™‚ )

Just a few more oddities

I’ve sort of mentioned this on here before with Facebook (i.e. people in Lux knowing each other that you really wouldn’t expect). More »

Looking back (long rambling entry)

Posted on November 23rd, 2008 @ 21:28 in Uncategorized

I am writing this in Dark Room. I’ve not used it in ages, in fact I’ve never really used it at all (I don’t have much use for writing tools) but it’s pretty, and calming. Especially when used in an actually dark room. More »

A Beautiful Hello

Posted on November 16th, 2008 @ 19:58 in Uncategorized

I write to you from pretty Paris. What a nice alliteration! I am sitting on a terrace on Ile St Louis, looking towards the HΓ΄tel de Ville, and reading Newsweek’s special commemorative Obama edition. Obama’s pretty too, but in a different way than Paris. πŸ˜›

I have so far had a most pleasant time, but I shall write about that upon my return. Right now I just wanted to do a “here I am” entry (cuz I can, you know, having an iPhone ‘n’ all).

An arguing British couple just walked past. He was pretty loud. He kept saying “you did not…”, but I could not make out what she did not do.

Now I have ordered a Croque Madame. Maybe I will go back to gushing over Obama. Tho maybe I should not let him distract me from the beauty of Paris? I managed to get my mum to try the bikes btw! She was a bit hesitant at first you see, but I’ve won her over. She even said she’d exercise in Lux so she gets better next time.
And I’m not as sore as I was last time! πŸ˜€

I must come back soon. But to start with I have another day tomorrow. πŸ™‚ Rejoice with me!
Goodnight!!!!!

Another weekend gone…

Posted on November 9th, 2008 @ 22:54 in Uncategorized

O hai! πŸ˜€ So as you can see I have a new theme on this here blog. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to dislike it, as it’s quite… bright and in-your-face. I’m not yet sure if I like it myself, but I was seriously fed up with the old one. And I wanted something with a graphic header that I can change if so desired. More »

He taught me HOPE

Posted on November 4th, 2008 @ 22:50 in Uncategorized

Wow. Lemme try to finally write that Obama post I’ve been meaning to write for ages (the draft I’ve just found is 2 months old exactly). Trying to quickly squeeze it in before I’m off to a scary election party, and we’ll hopefully know before the end of it, and then off to bed and I’ll definitely know when I wake up tomorrow.

I have been SO fascinated by this election for the past few months, and it’s been an incredible experience. I hadn’t ever been truly interested in a US election before – if I was, it was mainly because I’d (obviously) always want the Democrats to win, and/or because I wanted the Republican moron to lose.

But this time I’ve been really invested. It matters not just because Obama is the lesser of two evils, but because I really believe in what he stands for, and what electing him stands for for the American people. This goes way beyond the purely practical “well Obama would definitely be the wiser choice for the world at large”.

All the clichΓ©s that have been rehashed during his campaign actually resonate with me, despite my traditionally cynical leanings. The Audacity of Hope, Change We Can Believe In, Yes We Can… I can feel them. And I can relate to the American people feeling them, and it makes me immensely excited and emotional. This is HUGE!

So ja that was my last minute gushing entry, now I must get ready and be off, Obama FTW and all that!!!! (oh he better win or else…!!)
