Yack yack please indulge me (actually fuck you, if you don’t like it just bugger off lol).

Currently re-watching Obama’s speech on race and would like to say, for the record, that I “get him” now (cf also my previous optimism).

When that whole thing happened back in March, and everyone got so outraged about what Rev. Wright had said, I pretty much thought “well he speaks the goddamn truth” (and actually I do still think that).

But now I also understand, and agree with, Obama – not just from a cynical “ok we need to say this now to get people to vote for us” point of view, but the genuine desire to overcome the old divides and move forward:

As such, Reverend Wright’s comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity; racially charged at a time when we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems

This is pretty unlike me therefore I wanted to write it down. 😀 (tho, taking a step back from my current “high”, I also realize I don’t really believe this is going to turn Americans, or Planet-Earthians, into better people. And also that I still think Wright has a point.)

Anyway. Obamalove!!!!

PS Another admission… I still hope that Obama isn’t actually Christian/religious, but just plays the game. Actually that’s a pretty big hope of mine. *lol*
