End of Year Survey 2015

Posted on December 24th, 2015 @ 21:37 in life & me

It’s that time of year again… now in its 12th year. Let’s see how often I’ll mention my cat. *lmao* Previously:

2003 | 2004 | 2005 | 2006 | 2007 | 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014

1. What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?
Go to Canada. Own (and look after) my very own (not family) cat. Do a mindfulness course and regularly meditate (for a while). Properly do yoga. Walk the NY Pride parade! Househunt for pretty much most of the year. *lol* Sell a flat! See a physio. Own a road bike. Get a standing desk. Floatation. See Judith Kerr.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t make NY’s resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Mon. Again. :P

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. Actually I forgot, a former colleague died rather unexpectedly of cancer at 32. We weren’t particularly close, but he was good people and was living an amazing life travelling the world and making lots of people happy; he most certainly did not deserve to die. So, that sucked.

5. What countries/cities did you visit?
Paris x2, New York, Montréal, Edinburgh, Bournemouth.

6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
I want to find a bloody flat or house already!!!!!!!!!!! And I wanna be able to runnn again. But working on that!

7. What date from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
7th January. When my Miaow soft-padded into my life. :D

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don’t think I achieved anything much tbh. Not to put myself down or anything.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not finding a house yet. :| And not doing the Paris marathon? Tho that failure began in 2014 when I injured my Achilles.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Interestingly, I did not mention said Achilles in last year’s roundup. But yeah, that was an injury, and annoying. Nothing else tho so I should not complain. Too much.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My road bike (on last year’s wish list!). But that’s only because my Miaow was free. =))

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Dunno. I think it was mostly a year of shaking my head about people.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
See above… :|

14. Where did most of your money go?
An outrageous three week holiday in North America!
Vet bills. =)) And fitness – PT, sports therapist, physio…

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
New York City. It is always the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

16. What song will always remind you of 2015?
Embarrassingly I don’t listen to so much music anymore cuz I’m on a bit of a podcast binge.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you…

i. happier or sadder?
More or less the same. Well, except of course my Miaow brings me happiness daily. :D

ii. thinner or fatter?
Probably about the same, too. You wait until I can endurance run again!!!!!

iii. richer or poorer?
Again, more or less the same. *lol* Maybe a tiiiiny bit richer, but I will spend it all when I move. *lol*

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
As always: Sewing and creative stuff. And I wish I’d been more diligent about rehab earlier so I could be months ahead of where I am now in my running.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
As always: Wasting time online, definitely. It’s just ridiculous how much of my day disappears into nothingness. <--- YES OMG THIS AGAIN. Seriously. *sigh* 20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I dunno yet, even tho it is tomorrow. I may finish work (due 28th), or I may decide to have a day off. (God fucking damn, Beethoven was a genius. Excuse me). Must run at some point, but much rain forecast. May try to be creative. Will definitely cuddle Miaow.

21. How will you be spending New Years?
With my Miaow. :x

22. Did you fall in love in 2015?
Yes, yes, 1000 times yes.

23. How many one night stands?
None.

24. What was your favourite TV program?
None in particular. Still only watch HIGNFY. Even stopped watching Doctor Who.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No one in particular, just people in general. <-- this, again. 26. What was the best book you read?
Let me consult my journal. Oh, I re-read all the Harry Potters, can I count those? No? Okay.
5/5 also given to:
Orhan Pamuk – Snow
Diana Wynne Jones – The Merlin Conspiracy
Sean Michaels – Us Conductors
Matt Haig – The Humans
They’re all quite different and marvellous in their own way, so I can’t recommend one over the others.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
No new discoveries. :-( That is a bit sad.

28. What did you want and get?
A road bike. An amazing New York trip. A cat. I mean, I didn’t know how much I wanted a cat until I got him.

29. What did you want and not get?
A nice summer, yet again. Paris Marathon. A flat.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Have I even seen a film? I think I borrowed Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu. Which was pretty racist. *lol*

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
OMG OMG OMG! I was 38. I went to London with my bike again and cycled around and went to the Jewish Museum with someone I met off OKCupid and then in the evening we saw Judith Kerr and now I can die happy. So maybe that’s another want and get. I’ve always wanted to see Judith Kerr. And now I have. :x

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Shitloads of money. :D <-- Yes, again. And finding a house. *lol* Tho actually, if I had shitloads of money I’d wanna travel, and this I can’t do anyway with a Miaow.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?
Bikinis on roof. Fitness gear. *lol* Mini skirt in summer and mini skirt with tights in winter.

34. What kept you sane?
Good weather when we had it, exercise, mindfulness when I was at risk of going a bit nuts, and sometimes chemicals. *lol*

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Probably still Beyoncé, but only cuz I didn’t think about celebrities much. She is hot tho. (but not as soft as my Miaow)

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The UK elections, for once, and Jesus Christ, what idiots. And the anti-EU rhetoric, which will end up directly affecting me when the UK leaves the EU. Idiots.

37. Who did you miss?
My Miaow whenever I wasn’t with him. :D

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I know he’s not a person, but you know I have to say my Miaow. :x =))

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015.
Patience is a virtue. *sigh* (Yes, I already knew this…)

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Warm kitty, soft kitty… =)) =)) =))

41. Was 2015 a good year for you?
It was not bad. And I mean that in the sense of, it wasn’t really good either. :)) Apart from my Miaow. :D

42. What were your favourite moments of the year?
New York of course. New York is bliss.

43. What was your least favourite moment of the year?
Some panic moments about house-hunting and similar. That whole shit is stressful. (I’ll say tho, considering, that I’ve been reasonably chilled about it.)

44. What was your favourite month of 2015?
June because it had most of NYC.

45. What was your favourite song from 2015?
I did not purchase any new music in 2015. Tho I did listen to the new Maria Mena. But not often enough to form an opinion, yet.

46. What was your favourite record from 2015?
As above.

47. How many concerts did you see in 2015?
Only two Placebo. Cuz Bitter Ruin have split up. And she’s blocked me on Instagram! *lol* Oh! And William Christie et les Arts Florissants in Paris!

48. Did you have a favourite concert in 2015?
Yes, Placebo. :)) This time Edinburgh didn’t win cuz it was cold and we didn’t queue. Bournemouth was great however!

49. Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2015?
Nope. :D

50. Did you do a lot of drugs in 2015?
Nope.

51. Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year?
No.

52. What was the worst lie someone told you in 2015?
Oh, Jordan jerking me around when he was meant to be cat-sitting wound me up no end.

53. Did you treat somebody badly in 2015?
Not knowingly.

54. Did somebody treat you badly in 2015?
No.

55. How much money did you spend in 2015?
Honestly, not that much in the big scheme of things. I would’ve done if I’d found a flat. =))

56. What was your proudest moment of 2015?
None I can think of, sorry.

57. If you could go back in time to any moment of 2015 and change something, what would it be?
I would offer more on the Totland Road flat!!!! My one big househunting regret. And I wouldn’t offer on Gladstone Terrace and save £560 on a survey. And I maybe would offer on the Shanklin Road one with the plastic conservatory. *lol*

58. What are your plans for 2016?
Plans for 2015 were:
Eliminator Race in February (what the hell was I thinking).
Placebo twice in Feb / March.
Paris Marathon in April.
Work on swimming / buy road bike / do first triathlon.
Finish novel first draft, hopefully soonish. Then second draft? I hope so!
19 days New York / Boston (or Montreal) in June/July.
Nothing else so far – hopefully one of those bike trips… hopefully another lovely summer. :D

So I did Placebo, buy a bike, go to NYC. I didn’t do the others. The fitness ones due to injury (and cuz cycling and swimming are boring =)) ), and the novel due to… laziness, but also because reality kinda overtook my fiction.

Plans for 2016:
Right now, there is only one thing, that is finding a place to live, and moving. And hopefully getting a second Miaow.
And of course fix my weak glutes and core and become a stronger runner and do races again.

The End!!! :D
