Man I @#%$ hate computers!!!!

So I reinstalled Windows. Finally. It was way overdue. Spent about 5hrs this morning just with the basic stuff –

• format C:\
• restore factory Windows install
• restart 3 times during install
• go to Windows Update
• install critical security updates (reboot)
• install SP2 (reboot)
• install some 52 suggested updates (reboot)
• start configuring the beast & installing antivirus & other basic stuff
• discover Windows Update has 27 more important updates for you (reboot)
• finally you’re done. Yay.

So that was ok. For a while. Installed some more or less crucial programs – messengers, Paint Shop, CuteFTP… then also installed Adobe Premiere cuz I wanted to play around. Takes bloody ages to install.

Then installed Real Alternative (bad idea – don’t do it people!). Found out Windows Media Player now no longer played the .avi videos from my cam. Weird error message “The enumerator has become invalid.” Absolutely nothing useful about this online except desperate pleas for help from people with the same problem.

Uninstalled the stupid Real thing. Tried un- and reinstalling Media Player. Nothing. Turned to Windows Restore. Can you believe it? First day and already using Restore! Latest possible restore point was before I’d installed Premiere. Smashing. So I had to install that again. Hooray. But at least Media Player worked again. Yay.

Decided to install TweakUI. Went to the Setup Files folder on my D:\ drive that I’d downloaded it to just a few days ago. Discovered that all executable files have vanished from that folder! Only zip & rar archives remain. WTF dude!!!??

Who took them!? Where are they!? Which fucking program rummaged around my D:\ drive?!?!?! Did a search for .exe on D:\ which yielded exactly nothing. Changed settings on Windows to show all files, include system files, what have you, but they remain vanished and I remain flabberghasted.
