The New Routine
Look! I am blogging more! Even though that wasn’t a new year’s resolution, cuz I don’t make resolutions! Hey readers, you can come back now!! Hellooo??? [ello, lo, lo, lo] Ah well, I’ll just sit here and talk to myself then.
So I’m back in Brighton after a delicious ten days in Norway. It’s odd cuz coming back I had this inexplicable urge to “do nothing and be lazy”, when that’s exactly what I did at Mon’s as well (see below two entries). But somehow being lazy abroad is still different from being lazy here. It is easy to get into a very special routine of “nothingness” I guess.
I won’t however have much time for nothingness from now on, what with all the exciting stuff I have in my life! So on Tuesday mornings I have Interpersonal Skills course, on Wednesday afternoons (starting next week) I have Dressmaking course, on Thursdays and Fridays (as far as I can tell) I will be at my new P/T job… wow, that really means I only have Mondays off, uh? And that’s not even counting the time I will hopefully spend volunteering at Equinox once my CRB check has gone through. Crazy stuff!
I seem to have lost my momentum with the fitness thing… I hope I can get back into it cuz I really don’t want to lose the little progress I had made. Admittedly tho today has been stressful. Tomorrow it’s time to get back in the water! Or the running shoes, depending!
Oh also, did I mention I won another competition? (um, in December I was runner up in a Streetcar one on Facebook you see) Anyway, you can read all about it on the LoveBrighton blog. Large version of the winning pic on Flickr. And can you believe the prize is a gift voucher to a fabric store? A fabric store! When I’ve just enrolled in a dressmaking course!!! I don’t know if it gets much more serendipitous than that!
Also since I now seem to be on a winning spree, I will have to play the lottery. On the 31st of January, which is the same number of days from the LoveBrighton win as that is from the Streetcar win. Yes, I’ve got it all worked out. Btw the Streetcar prize was £10 driving credit, which have been added to the £150 I already have from forfeiting my deposit. Those expire in March, so I really need to do a road trip or something before then. Any ideas where to? Paris is a bit far for that amount I think.
My neighbour seems to have decided I am her personal assistant now. She called me earlier to shut her window which she’d managed to get stuck. I also have up here a “Which?” buyer’s guide to laptops, which I have been asked to translate for her from Techspeak to English (“Might as well be Chinese, I don’t even know the difference between MB and GB.” I know, it’s gonna be huge fun!) She has also taken to using my freezer for her stuff (usually she uses downstairs neighbour’s one. She doesn’t have one herself). I have however explained that once I go shopping I’ll need it all to myself. 😐 Apart from that she is lovely tho, so I’ll forgive her. I can also practise my listening skills on her. :))
Finally, before I go, may I recommend the Too Cute! Baby Sloths playlist on Discovery.com. Since I probably won’t get to see the actual show any time soon, this will have to do. And oh my God, aren’t sloths absolutely the most adorable things ever!? I got a soft toy one from Mon for Christmas! 😡
😮 :O :O Dress making course! Interpersonal skills course?! What/how does it teach?
:)) :)) The blurbs for the courses say the following:
Interpersonal skills
This level 1 course will help you develop skills to help your own communication or to help others, either in a voluntary or employed capacity
[so focuses on listening skills, empathy, establishing a trust relationship, body language etc. Is kind of a “learning by doing” course with role playing and stuff]
More Dressmaking
A course for complete beginners or those with some experience of using a sewing machine
to produce garments. Students will learn new techniques for sewing seams, inserting zips
and stitching hems to create a top, dress or shirt from a commercial pattern.
What’s the new part time job? 🙂
SEO c00rdinator. (lol taking precautions so that they can’t google me. The name of the company is on my FB profile if you’re interested, not putting it here. 😛 )
Oh I’m not finished asking 🙂 What kind of volunteering at Equinox? Exciting stuff!
And congratulations on winning the competition 😀 (I have just noticed that paragraph…)
*lolol* @ suddenly noticing another paragraph. :)) You don’t read my entries very carefully, do you? 😐 But thank you! 😀
Equinox would be as an “Outreach Volunteer”, i.e. I’d be the little sidekick of THEIR outreach people who go out in the street and talk to, um, their vulnerable clients (mainly street drinkers). Ah yes, which reminds me, I should write to them again to ask if there has been any progress. Maybe Monday.
:p 🙂
Oh it does sound very complicated …and scary.
:)) Scary yes, a bit, but complicated not really.
