Blast from the past

Posted on July 12th, 2007 @ 12:50 in Uncategorized

Brace yourselves for the massivest photo entry ever!! So as previously said, I brought pics from Lux. I scanned them. I wrote long rambling captions for them. And here they are. Ordered somewhat thematically, and slightly chronologically. [they’re over 3MB in total, so may take a little while to load]

EARLY CHILDHOOD…

This is the tomato jumper that got a mention in this earlier entry. This was in Knokke, on the Belgian coast, which I used to go to often with my grandparents. I’m probably around 8 here or sth.

Same person, different holiday. This is in Carnon, on the French Mediterranean,
that I went to a few times with my parents.

I had tidied my shelves. My dad was away on business so I took a pic for him as by the time he’d return they would undoubtedly be messy again. I must have been around 10. My toys!

This is me and my then-best-friend Nadine in my room. I was 13. I loved horses.

Same room, three years on. I loved Queen. *lol*

Our first lot of guinea pigs. Oscar, Susie, and babies. I still loved Queen, specifically Brian May (it started with Freddie Mercury you see). Also Guns’n’Roses, as you can tell from the bedsheets. My guinea pigs were cute.

My cat. She looks rather cool on this pic, hehe.

AT MY FATHER’S

My brother and I in lovely matching outfits. The jumpers knitted by my nan, no doubt.

Me and my father’s dog, Sammy. Aged…. 9 or 10? (me, not the dog) I dunno, but these are Polaroid photos
and I think I got that cam aged 9.

Gaby, me, father. Obviously. I’ll assume these were all taken on the same day. *lol*

A big bundle of cats at my father’s. They had up to 13 (adult) cats at any one time,
and often litters of cuuute kittens too.

My favourite cat of my father’s. He was the most lovely being ever. He always had his tongue sticking out a little (you can kinda tell on the pic). They would’ve given him to me as a kitten but my parents refused. I was so disappointed. Later I got my own cat (see above), but she wasn’t nearly as cool as this one.
I think I always kinda resented her for that.

My brothers and I. *lol* I am embarrassed to say I was probably about 13 years old here? (guessing from the horrendous hair style) But hey it was fun! :))

HORSES ALL OVER!

Sorta doesn’t belong in here cuz wasn’t to do with any of “my” horses, but this is me in Tunisia,
wearing a great T-shirt, on a hot black Arabian =P~

This is Daisy, my pony. I looked so small then compared to her. :)) This was before I owned her.

This is also Daisy. She looks kinda hot on this pic. Nice shiny coat. 🙂

So this is what I looked like on her later, when I was grown (this was at a western riding competition). It looks ridiculous yes? I agree. But I wasn’t fat as I am now so not too heavy for her, and we were a great team.

Sometimes we rode to our suburb (it was about a 45min ride). This was with my friend Noémie, in front of our house.

This was behind our house, i.e. in the garden. Pic taken from my bedroom window (the same bedroom I showed above). The friend this time is Dani, with my mum on the left.

More horses. This is Nasto, another pony I was in love with, at a holiday pony farm I went to often.
He was even shorter than Daisy. I was…. 12? Sth like that.

Much later… this was one of the Quarter Horse foals I looked after & trained up. Of course I always fell in love with them and was heart-broken when they were sold. This little fella was adorable. Well, they all were.

Finally, here’s my Prince and I doing team penning. Oh I do miss that sometimes.
Daisy was great at that too, even tho she was sometimes smaller than the cows. :))

Aah this… *lol* was a pic we took when we applied to be extras in some stupid Lux kids’ film. On the right, Robert the bastard. On the left, my friend Kristin. The horse I sit on is my friend Viviane’s.
We got the parts btw. You can only see us for a split second tho. *lol*

This huge mess is how we lived for a week, while being grooms for the Riding School people at the AQHA European Championships. Looking at it now – wow. We did all the work – feeding, cleaning, preparing the horses etc, and at the end of the week the old Schommer “generously” told us he wouldn’t charge us for the rent for the horsebox we slept in. :)) Like, woah! We were slaves for a week and he considered charging us for it? *lol*

We were allowed to have fun sometimes tho. 😛 No, seriously, those were some amazing trips,
I loved those times. We did the insanest things. :)) (and that’s a penis in my hand)

NYC, 9/11, MJ…

My first time in NYC, with my friend Viviane. This was in February 1996.

Look! World Trade Center! 🙁 Taken from Ellis Island I believe.

Look! WTC again! 😐 View from Empire State Building.

Look! No more WTC! :(( This was taken from JFK on my way back, 15th Sept 2001.

On my return flight I spent a few hours in Paris. They had locked all public bins. After that they were swapped for these transparent bags that say “vigilance and cleanliness” lol. They’re in use to this day.

Less depressing… MJ posters with lots of fan messages. Also NYC Sept 2001 of course.

UNCATEGORISED RANDOM STUFF

Er… school ski holiday in… er… when I was 15. I’m 3rd from the right. Funky outfit! 😀
To the right of me (at my left shoulder), my friend Martine.

Some of you may remember me talking about my flat in Paris, and how it had the shower in the kitchen.
Well here it is. That box is indeed a shower cubicle.

This is the flat my father now lives in. I lived there when I was 19. I like the lined up nail varnish bottles lol.

My school class when I was 15 or so. This was my grunge/hardrock phase. *lol*
The guy I met at the festival is top row, 2nd from the left.

This was in 1997, in Heidelberg. We were there to see MJ at the Hockenheimring. LOOK HOW SKINNY I WAS!!!! And yes I know I have some serious roots there. :)) But look how skinny I was!!!

Some of you remember I mentioned sewing a Brian May doll during classes? This is it. *lol*

I took some pseudo-creative pics involving Coke (and beer) bottles at some point. *snigger*

Oh! A pic I took of the West Pier when I first came here in 1995! Weeiiird to see that now.
It was still so… intact then. :)) 🙁 (compare now)

Nice pictures. I was looking for a Speak and Spell in your toy collection, but didn’t find one! Maybe that’s before your time.

OMGGGGG!!!! *lol* Those pics are sooooooooooo cute!!!! You were the CUTEST little kid!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 Awwwww… *looks at them again* LMAO I can’t believe that. I don’t know why, you look as a kid kind of how you did when I first met you I guess, with dark/long hair, but it’s still like 😮 to see them.

And the team penning link doesn’t work so I can’t see what you’re doing… am sure is all v innocent but I do hope those cows are not being hurt. Indeed I do.

But awwwww!!! Cute!!!! Have saved them all. Damn, I wish I’d looked through them in your flat now. There might have been even more!

PS. Awwwww… (and yes you were skinny in that pic, but it’s the poking out tongue that I notice most. You look like you had this playful attitude thing going on. V cute.)

🙂

Oh and PS – Christ @ NY, I didn’t take any but that’s really a 🙁 pic. And :O @ pier one. I don’t know why pics like that still surprise me – I’d never even heard of Bton at that time – but they do.

🙁

LOL yeah there were a few more that I ended up not using. *hehe*

Heh @ team penning not working. How amusing. Well, you could always google it. And no they’re not getting hurt, just chased around a bit. 😀

And ja @ NYC. I welled up when I read about the gas explosion this morning, even tho I knew it wasn’t terrorism. It’s just so… “Noooo, my NYC!!!” :((
