I HAVE A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I will tell you about it now! Warning: BIG ASS entry about the past 2 weeks.
[fyi this entry was started yesterday (Weds)]
I’m actually feeling rather good at the moment, and have been since I left work almost 7hrs ago. 7hrs? Wow. I do love my Amex hours. 😀 So here’s a positive entry. And if you catch me drifting off into depression, kick me.
So let me start by talking about work. I like work. I know I don’t always, but I do right now. I am happy with the stuff I get done, with the feedback I get, with my role, with people… it’s really rather cool. You may remember I complained a while back about some people’s attitudes, but I have not really changed my tack and seem to be appreciated all the same. However I’ve also learned not to feel bad about openly complaining to management about, um, incompetent and downright lazy colleagues and have learnt that this too is appreciated and earns you brownie points. Yay me!
I had my one-to-one (meeting with your manager about what you have achieved, what you want etc) about two weeks ago and it went really rather well (even tho I was a complete mess, mentally). They like me, they think I am doing a great job, they asked me what my intentions were re: staying with Amex (which translates as… they do wanna keep me – but then why shouldn’t they), and they gave me a pay rise. Nothing major, but nice all the same. I’ve never had an unrequested payrise. I’ve never had a requested one either since I would never request one. :)) Only the normal statutory ones.
Right, enough about work. I never did say anything about Munich did I. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of Anne cuz she did not allow me to take any. I do have loads of pics of other stuff but I… am mostly too lazy. Ok maybe I should show some. With shortish report (oh I am so going to regret this at 6.20 tomorrow)
Ok so first off a few sentences paragraphs about Regensburg and Placebo (wow this was almost two weeks ago now). It was really rather fun, retrospectively, tho at the time we didn’t think so (cuz most buses didn’t run and it was incredibly hot). I found some cute French girls early on (they’re studying in Passau, Bavaria)… I really hesitated to talk to them at first, then thought “fuck it” cuz we were all obviously waiting for the same bus and I wanted someone to figure things out with me. And at first they sounded a bit reserved, but we really warmed to each other really quickly, and I had the funnest time with them.
I don’t know what I would’ve done without them during the wait. It was all rather scary, there was no shade and it was some 30deg, so we decided to move away and go sit under some trees some distance away. And we had the absolutely cutest rabbits visiting us!!! Well, mainly one.
Rabbit getting closer (and proof that I really did meet people!)
Rabbit within reach! But I didn’t reach cuz I’m cool like that.
But of course my Placebo experience wasn’t just rabbits. Tbh if Katja wasn’t such a rabbit freak I wouldn’t even have found this so amazing. Tho it was cute all the same. Here’s a pic of the “other” people waiting in the scorching heat.
This was some 2hrs before doors opened. Not at all the same as the crowds in France or the UK! 😛
So yeah anyway a while later they finally opened the outside gates, and I was still with my Frenchies (who incidentally had never been to a Placebo concert before, despite what their frenchness might suggest)… but then when they opened the doors to the inside arena I just ran and… lost them. And felt kinda guilty and tried to find them (I’d told them to get to the front left cuz that’s where Brian would be!) but they weren’t within sight and… I wasn’t gonna abandon my 2nd row spot for them. *ahem* Have a Sex God:
The concert was most amazing and wonderful and sexy as always. People around me were rather fun too so I bonded with those instead. Afterwards I semi-looked for the Frenchies.. and I saw them on the bus back into Regensburg but was too scared to go & talk to them. *cough* I imagined they would be mad at me (and semi-rightly so I guess, tho they knew how obsessed I was), but I figured even if I did go talk to them I’d never see them again afterwards so what was the point. We had a really really nice afternoon. The end. 🙂
Right so that was my “short” report on the Placebo day. Now for my short report on my Munich weekend. :)) So as you all know (of course) I was staying with Anne. She was a very lovely host – she even dragged herself away from work for me! :] And I got to see her ‘infamous’ office and stuff! Wasn’t allowed to take a pic tho. 🙁 I could’ve done anyway while she wasn’t looking but I didn’t cuz I’m nice like that.
We did fairly touristy stuff – out of all the stuff she showed me I’d only seen the Rathausplatz and the Englischer Garten (but a different part). So despite what she may say she was a very good tour guide! We saw a very fun pseudo-eco street fair (where we had nice Schupfnudeln), and went to a comic fair, and lounged about and stuff. And went to some… restaurant place where I had my first Kaiserschmarrn in almost 20 years. Our waitress was a bitch but we forgave her cuz her job must suck. [end of what I wrote on Weds] I shall show you some photographs.
First off, Regensburg cathedral tho. From outside…
… and inside. They have fun planty type things in there!
Comic fair!
Rathaus! (town hall for you non-German-speakers)
Funny vehicle at above mentioned street fair
The next day (Sunday) we didn’t do anything much at all. We lay about (at Anne’s) for ages and then went back into Munich, saw the synagogue, crashed at Starbucks (and researched loads of stuff about Starbucks and McDonalds on Anne’s Sidekick) and then it was time for me to leave. Anne said she didn’t envy me for the journey ahead of me, and I said I didn’t envy her for having to stay in the heat. :)) But apart from the heat Munich was very cool (ha).
So that was that. What else do I have to report on? Ah yes, on Monday I went to see the most lovely and very amusing Simon Amstell with my Lord God Imelda. Thanks to Mel’s alertness we were the very first to get into the (small) venue so we sat front centre. Because I have rather red ginger hair (oh yeah, will have to show you later), and because we are so extremely cool, Simon interacted with us quite a bit, which was fun. At one point he went “ok I have to stop making you part of the act cuz you won’t be there in Edinburgh” (these gigs are kind of a warm up / test thing for his Edinburgh fringe show) and we were like “oh but why not, you could take us along?! 😀 ” but he declined. :))
But we thought might be fun to go to one of his Edinburgh gigs too and be like “Boo!” 😛 Could combine that with visiting my useless slore and finally see J‘s flat (and get my Prince of Belair DVDs back lol). I think we also considered going to another one of his London ones… what’s with that Mel? Tuesday and Wednesday next week still have tickets available. :] :wh
Oooh yeah and before Simon we went for dinner, and to please my Lord God Imelda I agreed to go to a Brazilian place (also because I had been to one before and it was yum) aaaaand it was also very yum this time. 😀 =P~ Well my dish was, I think Mel was less pleased with hers. But I’d go again. 😀 Yay for Brazil! Horrible language, nice food. 😛 Oh also, Mel is wonderful. 😡
Ah yeah so I mentioned my hair earlier on… last weekend, while feeling shit, I decided to redo my hair again, as I am often wont to do. I bought bleach and dye as usual, and bleached… and then decided not to dye. I also did my eyebrow green. I was sure everyone at work would be shocked and I might even get told off for the green eyebrow, but no such thing, pretty much everyone likes it better than the red red, so it’s staying for a while. So I’m a proper ginger now. 😀 Wanna see? :))
Right well I think that’s pretty much the end of my news. I have done some work on the brewery site, finally, mainly cuz Jeff was meant to have a meeting with the guy today and said it would be nice if he had sth to show (the meeting was cancelled in the end). Don’t like it that much but don’t hate it either and am glad I finally managed to get working on it. Will do more work this weekend since I won’t be going to Paris. *lol* Oh and also, I’ve bought Season 2 of Knight Rider cuz was cheap at Cash Converters (yeah so shoot me). K.I.T.T. =P~ Oh and I love where I live. Finally, Sara is very cool. So is Vega and she has an English blog again now. 😀
Aww, I got a mention! 😀
That bunny thing is the cutest ever!
Yes it was rather adorable. 😛
Bunny! 😡 ^:)^ =P~

Not sure about Simon next week. Tori will be playing on those dates and I must attend. I take Goddess lessons from her.
Thanks, oh Lord.
Then we should look into July. There are July dates left as well. ;;)
Weee… July is fine with me. Sorry, I like Simon, but I love Tori MORE!
