So I don’t usually like kids and stuff, but this girl is truly and purely amazing.

I wasn’t that keen on her tbh, her voice is a bit wobbly. I just keep comparing her to MJ at that age and his voice was a lot stronger. I dunno tho, generally not a fan of kid singers as they hailed as having these amazing voices and actually they’re just pretty average.
Some of the kids on that show ARE really cute tho. Dammit.

I actually found her voice really good. Maybe a BIT of a strong vibrato, but damn, for a 6yr old? I don’t think I have any proper recordings of MJ that early. Do you?
And um yeah, apart from the fact that I DON’T compare EVERY SINGLE PERSON to MJ, I find her better, for what she showed.
And yeah I’ve seen the opera guy. Nice voice, but wasn’t that impressed, esp. cuz I watched him after he made it through to the semi-finals. Nice tenor, nothing more. He had the distinct advantage that Nessun Dorma is an extremely powerful song and the instrumentals alone would send shivers down everyone’s spine. His performance seemed average.
Is she six?
I dunno, how old was MJ in the Motown auditions? 8? 10? God I’m a bad fan. Anyway, she still looks all “my mummy really loves my singing” kind of way, rather than an MJ “you WILL listen to me” kind of way.

And well ja, the non-“you will listen to me”-ness is what actually makes her a lot more endearing to me. She just stands there and sings, you know? She has no annoying “you can reach the stars” pretensions.

About the whole MJ comparing thing…it’s not sth I did in this case either, like Citz – the times I do that is when they sing his songs, cause that ALWAYS sucks compared to him lol.

She just looks like a little girl who likes to sing. It doesn’t seem to me like she cares about being famous. She doesn’t look nervous, she’s so young that the situation doesn’t faze her at all. She doesn’t think about it. It seems really pure. Which is nice.

The performance still really moves me, it’s so amazing, she just walks up there completely oblivious to what it all means and what an amazing talent she has and she just sings.

I heard 2 sisters do a fantastic rendition of Killing Me Softly at a Lux karaoke night once. It sent shivers down my spine, yet I knew they would never be Princesses of Pop or whatever fucking else, and I never heard of them again. Still, their performance was amazing and dazzled everyone present that night. I still feel lucky I was there to witness it.
Bessie Curtons (who unsurprisingly made it thru to the final tonight) is MJ. She’s really good and she knows it.
Connie is the complete opposite, not as polished and rehearsed, but much much more moving, for that very reason.
But whatever, I guess I just really dislike MJ fans these days.
