Sometimes even Paris disappoints
I know, it’s shocking: I went to Paris and I didn’t like it.
This was due to various factors, the horrible weather being the main one. It rained pretty much for three days straight and it was ruddy cold as well and we had not packed sufficiently warm clothing. In addition it was a holiday (Pentecost) so most stuff was closed, which meant we couldn’t even really flee inside to escape the rain, except from café to café, which got old after a while. Lastly, Charlotte, the friend I went with, had a cold and is a bit of a downer when stuff isn’t great (I suspect I am too, so we just dragged each other even further down). So all in all this was a pretty shitty trip.
Friday was okay actually, even quite nice towards the evening where I went for a 10km run. Most of the day I spent in shops buying loads of clothes. Mostly summer clothes, tho honestly I don’t know why I bother, since there aren’t summers here anymore. I did a tiny bit of cycling as well, tho not much. And I watched trashy TV.
Saturday Charlotte and the rain arrived. I can’t even remember what we did… more shopping I think. And then went home for a break and never left again cuz we were wet and miserable. So we missed the whole of the Nuit des Musées – the main reason we’d gone – even tho it had actually stopped raining.
Sunday the main “thing” we did was go to the Salon d’Art Abordable (affordable art fair) at the Bellevilloise, then walked around the Père Lachaise cuz we were in the area, then walked home from there. It didn’t rain at first but it started on our way back. I went for a 6km run anyway. Watched boring film, went to bed.
Monday we literally just dragged ourselves from café to café. It never stopped raining for longer than 2 minutes. It was cold. I was almost glad to be at the station in the end where I could change into dry shoes and read my book.
And that was it. My previous trip with Charlotte had been kinda rubbish too (also shit weather!), so tbh I think I’m just gonna stop going with her. She was my original Paris buddy in the mid-late 90es and we had some of the best times, but maybe I just have to accept that’s in the past and move on. I think I’m gonna book another Paris trip for July to make up for this one. Paris Plages is 20 July to 18 August this year. Hmmm…
:)) sometimes you sound SO scary!
