Thus spake America

I am way too obsessed with the US presidential election right now. Way. I’ve even considered going there in November to experience the rush first hand should Obama win. Which he very well may not. Earlier today I wagered “if the traffic lights are green Obama will win” and they were red. So there.

Seriously tho, I want him to win so so so bad that even tho (as usual) I am expecting the worst and bracing myself for a republican win (like I did last time), I am going to be so friggin’ disappointed if that happens. And anyway – it’s two months yet and so much is still gonna happen and I have to stop following each development and trying to gauge how that might affect public opinion etc. And getting worked up if something plays into McCain’s hands, and getting all hopeful and excited if something happens that’s positive for Obama.

In other news, I just got back from London where I spent a very pleasant weekend doing sweet fuck all. Well we did go to see R.E.M. on Saturday. Lovely lovely Michael Stipe (who, incidentally, is still quite certain that Obama will win… um anyway). Sunday we mainly watched DVDs (well I did, squi played Fantastic Contraption) and admired the rain.

Today I came home via Ikea where I bought various useful things – curtains and a curtain rod, an extra shelf for my Billy, scissors, and a fun mini ironing board. Oh and I found a sofa I like and which may well fit through my lounge door… er except I’ve just found out it only exists in hideous colours. Why don’t they have it in red like the rest of the Ektorp range!? *sigh* Oh well.

Easyjet have a sale on. Did I mention I still have quite a lot of holidays left over? I need somewhere to go with them. Venice and Salzburg are both tempting. I’ve never been to Venice, and I’ve always wanted to go back to Salzburg after staying there for one night in 1999 or so. squi also found out that BA has fairly reasonable rates to NYC still. And I need to decide when to go to Paris.

Not right now tho, for now I will go to bed. 7am start tomorrow and all that. Vega’s coming tomorrow btw! 😀

PS One last thing about the US elections tho – what annoys me so fucking much is that the Republicans always play dirty and end up winning. It’s gonna end just like it did four years ago, and that’s so goddamn infuriating!
