Why writing is like running

Speak for yourself, you may say at this point. Okay, I am! This is how writing has been like running for me, or more specifically, how NaNoWriMo has been like Couch25K.
- Start with the attitude: gonna give this another go. Have failed previously, but who knows what happens this time. Might work, might not. No pressure.
- Look up after day 3 or 4, surprised. Hey, this is actually fun! Let’s keep up this momentum. Yeah!
- Keep chugging along. The growing confidence from the good days helps through the bad days. Wow, 20 minutes running / 20k words already!
- Get cocky and think “Ha, I am the Queen, nothing can stop me now.”
- Hit a wall exactly one day later. Curse yourself and the world. Why does this have to be so hard?! Maybe I’ll give up.
- Power through anyway. THIS IS THE NEW AND BETTER ME!
- Unbelievably, reach the end of the progam. Realise you are proud of your achievement.
- Run a marathon (done) / add another 50k to your novel and self-publish (maybe?).

Oh, I found your post and read this http://qz.com/305321/the-habits-of-highly-productive-writers/ on the same day, what a coincidence.
