Hello I'm new!
Mon, Mar 13 2006 @ 22:18   //   Category: Randomness   //   22 comments

I'm replacing Penguin (well not officially, but in practice anyway). I'm a present from the being of perfection and marvellousness, aka Thomas. I'm from Ikea. I'm green!!! I'm not sure what I am (dragon? duck with dragon wings? unidentified mythical creature?). I also don't have a name yet so suggestions welcome. :P But I'm not gonna be updating this diary so I'll pass you over to Clarissa now...

Yeah. Hi. Do you like Puff (temporary name)? Isn't Toma the cutest thing ever? I heartbrokenly handed over Penguin this morning and squi went "oh I have sth for you from Toma" and I got a Puff! :D He bought him like a year ago & the letter that came with him was just as old. :)) He's soooo cute!! :x :x :x (yeah so I must now amend the bigass questionnaire to say "Tom replied twice" lol) I love Tommy. :x And his boyfriend. :x (and I must stop going on about them I know. hey, don't deprive me of my simple pleasures!)

Yeah so I was in London (I do hate London btw). I got there quite late last night cuz, well, I was going to anyway but then I missed the first train so I got there even later (well half an hour later). I even remembered Mel's flat number and floor!!! (I ought to really, considering how many times I've crashed at their place while in transit from/to somewhere or other :))) Yeah cuz I stayed with Mel and Kat you know? They are really quite incredibly cute. :x I know that sounds like I'm just trying to suck up to them (what a preposterous insinuation!), but like seriously! They are always soooo sweet and caring and I wonder why cuz I'm really not that interesting and usually just fall asleep on them anyway. :))

But I didn't this time!!! :D (and Mel made sure to tell the whole world right the next morning lmao) We watched Ray (and I cried of course) and we talked and Kat fed me delicious hotchoc and Mel flattered me and then we watched amusing docusoaps and, well, it was generally very pleasant. I was gonna say I ought to go see them sometimes without going "can I stay the night?" but considering they live in London I would have to anyway. :))

Ja. The next morning I hated London. Very much. I'm not gonna expose my whole tale of woe, I'll just say peak time public transport, too many people, 3 broken down ticket machines in a fucking row (each time involving unnecessary queueing), arriving at my destination 20mins later than intended, too many people, stress, annoyance and too many people.

And ja I know I've complained about this before so y'all be like "(| tell us something new", but thing is, with this course I'm doing, and the job markets it targets, I had sorta started thinking about maybe considering London again after all if there really were no suitable job prospects in Brighton. But this has reminded me, and I must never forget it ever again:

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
LONDON IS A NIGHTMARE TO ME AND NO JOB AND NO SALARY
JUSTIFIES SUCH DETERIORATION OF QUALITY OF LIFE
THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Mon suggested to write it down, to refresh my memory should I ever start considering it again (because I've not experienced this in a while and my memory is blurred and I am embellishing reality), so let me elaborate (feel free to skip, I'm not writing this for you anyway):

too many people, queues to get on the trains; not getting on the first train because there are already too many people on the platform; squishing yourself on the next train if you're lucky, along with millions of other people; struggling to get off the train; people always in the way wherever you wanna go; people being slow and annoying doing stuff and delaying you; stuff not working half the time, delaying stuff even more; tube stations closed, tube lines with limited service, people people people...

In case you hadn't skipped it - yes this makes me hate London but of course lots of people don't hate it. That's because they are more tolerant of these inconveniences, and that's cool. I'm happy for them. :P

So that was my London rant. On with the tale (not much left)... I found a squi in the queue (you've already read about the exchange of soft toys), we went and got our Placebo albums (and our magical wristbands, the ones that will get us into the show on Weds), squi went to work, I walked up Oxford Street to Selfridge's to get some (lots) more Oreos, then went back home (public transport was nice to me this time!). And that's that.

Had journalism at college this afternoon and we were asked to write a feature and I thought (but didn't say) "Can I just write about how marvellous Brighton is compared to London??" :)) In the end I wrote about the Brightonians' weird obsession with wheelie bins. *lol*

People say...

@ Oreos

I like Puff for a name!

Posted by: Michelle on Tue March 14, 2006 at 0:17

He's mine!! The green bewinged thing!! At least I had him first *stubborn*: WHich meeeeans...yours must just be a copy. (How did I ever manage without that smiley?!)

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 8:15

Oh yeah I was gonna comment about the letter writing thing in that other entry but forgot, so; You haven't written letters in years so I think it no longer counts.

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 8:16

Also do you know that your comments are REALLY slow and annoying? Takes ages to get it posted.

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 8:18

I am sooooo removing that smiley from my list

I wrote a letter just last week. And I wrote one last May. How do you want to know when I write letters anyway?

Yes I know my comments are slow. Not much I can do about it other than moving from Seb's webhosting and I think I'm too lazy for that (plus my domain is registered to his name so if he wants to be a bastard I can't move anyway.... )

Posted by: Clarissa on Tue March 14, 2006 at 9:45

lol @ May, well that IS a year ago

"How do you want to know when I write letters anyway?" How I want to know? I don't understand the question.

Yeah move, Seb sucks.

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 10:08

Yeah sorry the "want to" shouldn't have been in there. Wasn't really concentrating.

May was 10 months ago. And even "one year" is not "yearS". And I wrote one last week. Oh and I wrote one in January but didn't send it. But it still counts!

Meh @ moving. So so so much hassle, especially if I have to set up all the database stuff again, and won't have a Seb doing it for me. So I don't think I will.

Posted by: Clarissa on Tue March 14, 2006 at 10:50

Well OBVIOUSLY it doesn't count if you never give them to me

And 10 months is a really long time, which is what I meant when I said "years".

Aaaaaaaaaand if you wrote one last week which you sent/am planning to send, that too does not count since I didnt' know about it.

( I am addicted!!)

Ok @ not moving. Seb still sucks though.

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 11:39

Oh you're only talking about letters to YOU?
I thought you were talking about in general.
I've not written one to you in a while cuz I talk to you all the time.
I was actually thinking of writing you one the other day but then I can never write interesting stuff cuz I'd wanna tell you that as soon as I see you online anyway and... well... yeah, there isn't really anything else.

Yeah Seb does suck for never being available (only for that reason tho lol) but ah well, what can you do.

Posted by: Clarissa on Tue March 14, 2006 at 12:24

Why would I comment about letters to other people?! I have nothing to do with that??

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 14:01

You originally wrote:
You haven't written letters in years so I think it no longer counts
which I took to mean "you can't say you have penpals". So then everyone would count of course. What did you mean? What doesn't count?

Posted by: Clarissa on Tue March 14, 2006 at 17:36

I love London.

And my magical wristband

Posted by: Alisdair on Tue March 14, 2006 at 18:50

Maybe the mythical dragon duck thing is a Wambeast?

Posted by: Mel on Tue March 14, 2006 at 19:20

I think the Wambeast was once defined by its inventor (squiZZ) as something rodent-like. It eats salad anyway.

Tho I wouldn't mind being green and able to fly.

Posted by: Clarissa on Tue March 14, 2006 at 19:34

You said I/we never reply or that I had done once or twice or something like that, and it sounded like you STILL wrote me lots of letters, so I just meant that you don't really send me letters anymore so I needn't feel bad about not writing back.

And I still don't get why I you would think I'd tell you "no you never write Tom or squiZZ letters".

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 20:12

Well cuz I didn't get the... relation. Whether the letterwriting was years ago or now doesn't change anything about the fact that no one ever replies to my letters
Not that it bothers me that much. But I could still say it.

Posted by: Clarissa on Tue March 14, 2006 at 20:29

Ok, never mind.

Posted by: JarJar on Tue March 14, 2006 at 22:59

I say call him Axl. AXL I say.

Posted by: snow on Tue March 14, 2006 at 23:23

No, definitely not. Sorry.

Posted by: Clarissa on Wed March 15, 2006 at 9:22

Yes, he is very un-wambeast-like. Wambeasts are brown and furry.
