*munching salad*
Fri, Feb 10 2006 @ 21:17   //   Category: Life & Me   //   19 comments

Lettuce and carrots and peppers. It's called "Alfresco style salad". 99p from Tesco. Can you believe I am now almost a regular at Tesco again? (for there is a big one 2mins from college) I shudder at the thought. Perhaps I should dig out my Club card. That's still registered to my Coventry address. *lol*

I am currently boiling myself some water for a cup of tea. I had a look at my kettle and wondered if one was ever supposed to clean this. I figured one probably is. So I dug out the instructions manual (I am surprised I still have that! actually no I'm not. I tend to keep that sorta stuff) and it says you should descale around once a week. Once a week?!? Heeheehee :wh (needless to say I've not descaled once since I got the kettle about 3 months ago). I think I still have some leftover vinegar somewhere from when I cleaned the slore's pigs' water bottle... ah no I haven't. Oh well. *snigger*

In other news, I have run Windows restore and it looks like it may have got rid of the little adware trojan bastards. That would be rather neat. I was really not looking forward to that reinstall horror. Tho I was getting kind of excited about having a new & clean Windows (I'd even decided to finally start using Firefox). Of course I nothing's keeping me from reinstalling anyway... except my extreme laziness. And even less is keeping me from installing Firefox anyway... except... er... my fear of having to get used to new things? Um yes, that. (I really should start using Firefox tho I know!!!)

I've been invited to Ingmar's birthday party. In fact he texted me ages ago (well on Monday or sth) and I forgot to reply and was reminded when I went through my inbox to delete old texts earlier today. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go... on the one hand I have stuff to do, and I don't really fancy a night out (as usual), and most of the people there are boring, plus I would rather keep being healthy... on the other hand it would be nice to see Nick again (and no doubt he will be there, since he's best buddies with Ingmar) and well, it would also be a change to see "real people" again... but then I decided against it and told Ingmar I'd be in London on Sunday.

Unfortunately I'd got the day wrong so he replied "It's on Saturday! You have to come!" *sigh* Of course I could've immediately said "well I'm in London all week-end" but instead I decided to wait and make my decision depend on Ann-Louise. I was fairly sure she wouldn't go, they don't usually go to work dos. However they are going, so apparently I am going too. *lol* I said I have to get up early on Sunday tho (to go to London you know, lol) so I can disappear early on. :|

I'm almost done munching my salad. I have discovered Dominos Garlic & Herb dip makes rather nice dressing too. I have loads of them cuz everytime I walk past it I go in and get some, and I walked past every week on my way to counselling. Counselling is over however so from now on it won't be so easy. Anyway. Salad. And eggs. I've boiled myself some eggs. Oh, and I walked to college this morning. It took me 32mins. That's not too bad. But it gets boring. So I won't do it every day. Maybe rollerblading.

Jeff (PR tutor) is selling his bike. It's a good bike. He's selling it for £50. It would be a good deal. But it will get stolen. He says it won't get stolen if you use a good lock & he's never had a bike stolen. Yeah right. He's never lived in Kemp Town. And even if I manage to not have the frame stolen, I'd still get the wheels and saddle stolen. And do you see me removing wheels & saddle every night & bringing them up to my flat? And putting them back on every morning before cycling to college? No me neither. I knooow... some people do it. But I am not some people. I am me people. :|

I've not done any revision yet so far today. I'm slacking. So I'll be off to type up my PR notes. Wheee. Still no ad popups. It's looking good. :-)

People say...

Don't you use stuff like e.g. Spy Sweeper? I use it, and it never complains. I've configured my PC, so that it doesn't even find spying Cookies on it anymore. I always find it funny - people using all that stuff like Anti-Virus-Software etc., and they always complain. I use not protection at all and never have trouble.

Hehe @ bike story. Same here in Leipzig. It's useless to buy bikes, because they get stolen anyway.

No I don't have spy sweeper.
I only use Adaware (and only usually install that once I suspect I've caught something *lol*)
I don't normally get adware either... this time I just did something really stupid (well, something I do often and most of the time it's fine, but there is always a risk involved... und manchmal da geht's halt in den Arsch )

>>I have discovered Dominos Garlic & Herb dip makes rather nice dressing too. I have loads of them

I hate you.

And... once a WEEK?! I've had mine since... since we moved to Brighton. Two years. And have I descaled once?

Posted by: The BML on Sat February 11, 2006 at 16:45

well apparently "scale affects the heating performance of the kettle."

PS Garlic & Herb

Posted by: Clarissa on Sat February 11, 2006 at 16:55

vinegar?

Posted by: JJB on Sat February 11, 2006 at 22:06

Ja. Vinegar is a great descaler. It's the acid y'know.

Posted by: Clarissa on Sun February 12, 2006 at 0:24

Hm.
I don't know what descaling is, so I probably won't need any vinegar.

Posted by: JarJar on Sun February 12, 2006 at 13:55

Yes! Limescale realllllly affects the kettle performance, the kettle in my house takes ages to heat up cause it's so covered in that nasty green shit. How long does the vinegar take? . . . I guess it's dependant on how much gunk there is to breakthrough yeah?

Can you believe I am now almost a regular at Tesco again?
Mmhmmm! Because it's wonderful! But can you believe I'm a regular at SOMERFIELD?!!! I should be shot.

Posted by: squiZZle on Sun February 12, 2006 at 16:15

Limescale is the hard white stuff that settles from when you use tap water. Kalk in German, if that helps you at all.
Descaling is, um, removing the white stuff.
I've checked my kettle btw and there is already quite a layer at the bottom. *yuck*

And um, squiZZ, it's not green. I think what you're talking about is algae. But that would be quite gross.

Somerfield have quite yummy stuff. And beautiful green store cards!

Posted by: Clarissa on Sun February 12, 2006 at 17:01

LOL @ old Tesco card.

The water in England is disgusting! I think it's worth spending £3.50 a month for a water filter cartridge thingy. It makes the water drinkable again. (And little / no scaling inside kettle! ) -- > Happy Woods.

(And btw, I do stretch out the cartridge things longer than a month - tee hee).

Btw, don't you use Ad-Aware?

Posted by: Woods on Sun February 12, 2006 at 17:13

White stuff?!

(Ja kalk helps, I put it in the fish tank, because....aaaaaaaah that would explain why I/we don't get it on kettles here)

Posted by: JarJar on Sun February 12, 2006 at 17:42

Sinead, the reply to your question is in my very first comment (and anyway, AdAware didn't get rid of these ones). I don't think the water here is so bad.

lol so you have very soft water in Norway Mon? (hard water = more limescale....)

Posted by: Clarissa on Sun February 12, 2006 at 19:08

Ja i think. If you have to use kalk when it's soft and not the other way around. WHich is what you just said I guess, so ja.

Posted by: JarJar on Sun February 12, 2006 at 20:15

Oopth, sorry. Didn't read comments...

Well it must be good if government computers use it. But ya, it's annoying that you have to put it on manually.

Posted by: Woods on Sun February 12, 2006 at 21:52

Tesco is wonderful! Do you have an old-school card like Blackadder Back & Forth?

I have discovered Dominos Garlic & Herb dip makes rather nice dressing too.
Leave the lid off, and the top goes solid.

Later I will have a Wam. What did I want reminding of today? I know I told you to remind me of something but I forget what

Posted by: Tay on Mon February 13, 2006 at 10:48

Oh yeah damn what was it?
I think it was something silly like making pirate noises.

And yeah I have one like Blackadder I think

Posted by: Wam (soon with Tom!) on Mon February 13, 2006 at 13:08

*wonders how much "kalk" there is in own kettle*

Posted by: Dee on Mon February 13, 2006 at 14:28

God, kill me. Just fucking KILL ME!!!!!!!

*looks at Citz*

Make it stop!

Posted by: The BML on Mon February 13, 2006 at 22:34
