I too can get through exams with nice grades with minimal work done, but I don't think of me as particularly intelligent. I just think...some people are good at some things, like reading little / doing little work and then be able to preform. But that might as well have something to do with memory. Or confidence. Or willingness to learn. Or...something else.

If we assume intelligence to be something that can be measured (by an IQ test for instance), then it is something quite concrete.
You can have a very high IQ but be completely unable to live a social life - but then that's cuz you're lacking other skills that have nothing to do with intelligence.
Also I think you underestimate the stupidity of people. Of course I think of you as above average intelligent too. Maybe you're a bit too protected so you've not experienced people with a really low IQ. You would notice the difference, trust me. *lol*
