I still find it quite shocking myself I must admit.
Can't quite explain how it happened either. James asked if I was coming and I somehow said yes...
... but work thing was boring so James and Ann-Louise said shall we move on and for some unfathomable reason I said yes YET again... so we ended up in some pub, just them and me. Which was nice I guess. They're cool. I've said that about Ann-Louise before but I can now say the same thing about James (tho I still think she is cooler).
And so I was out and got back late and this was weird cuz so very not me these days. And I actually realised how much I do love Brighton. I suddenly felt all accomplished walking through these streets, which really were just "the way home" that I had walked so many times before. Nothing special really - usually this is just a background setting to my everyday life. Which is sad cuz at some point this was the main focus of my life - this was it. And for some reason I was reminded of this tonight.
Even if it's just a background setting - it is the setting I chose, the one I love. So it's "only" St James's Street, which I walk through about 15 times a week, but it's Kemp Town! It's Brighton! It's England! It's great! (and yeah I am aware this won't matter next time I am depressed & negative again but I thought it would be worth putting down anyway).
Youre probably gonna hate me now, but...
(Melody: Downtown)
When youre alone and life is making you lonely you can always go to Kemp Town
Maybe you know some little places to go to where they never close in Kemp Town
You can drive up Edward Street or straight along the sea front
But if you choose St James Street you cant drive back the same route
Its only one way
You know when you have arrived
You can immediately feel that bohemian vibe
Youre in Kemp Town, The Marina is very near
And Fabulous Sussex Square, theyve never heard of drugs there
If youre a man who like an all over sun tan - theres a nudist beach
If youre a chap who likes a bloke up his backside - theres a place to meet, Tischmound
Kemp Town has fantastic pubs, the Rock and theres the Bristol
and lots of little bijou restaurants. Have you ever been to The Café de Pari?
I pray to break both my legs so I can lay in a Royal Sussex hospital bed
Thats in Kemptown
Who knows when Kemp Town end and Whitehawk begins
Its arling, its funny, its Kemp Town
I hate my mum
I hate my family
