Still not raining!

Hm ok I think it is now actually cuz it was just about to start when I came in here. But anyway it didn't rain all day, tho it looked quite threatening a few times.

The plan for today - which was predicted the wettest day of the week - had been to go to the MoMA. So we set out around 11.00 or so.... the way there took us via St Patrick's Cathedral and the Palace (aka the hotel where MJ stayed in 2001 and where we spent many happy hours). There was a mass underway as we got to St Patrick's, so we went to have lunch outside the Palace, just like in the old days. Well, I had lunch, d just had some sort of cake thing. Lunch was very yummy.

Then St Patrick's again, this time with permission to take pictures, then on towards the MoMA. Looking up we realised it was actually sunny, so we debated whether to reschedule MoMA for tomorrow as one should always use good weather for outdoor stuff. We decided however to stick with the original plan. And went to the MoMA. And found out it's closed Tuesdays. *lol* Typical! I was gonna check the opening times at the hotel but thought "nah, what museum is closed on a Tuesday!" so didn't. Mhm. *lol*

Ah well. So outdoor stuff it was after all - that is, we took the subway to Queens to check out the humongous Calvary Cemetery. It's actually not a terribly interesting cemetery, it's just the sheer vastness of it that makes it so. Everything's bigger (and better) in America! :))

Jaaaa, then we came back to Manhattan. We didn't really have a plan so I said I wanted to go see St John the Divine Cathedral as it's gothic and we missed it on our Central Park tour. daniel wasn't interested & said he'd do sth else instead, so we parted ways at Times Sq. subway station. Aaaand I changed my mind and decided to go to the Museum of Jewish Heritage which we'd walked past yesterday. Same subway line, but different direction. :P

It was very interesting (and not closed on Tuesdays), but it closed before I could finish it. Esp. cuz this guard guy took a liking to me and decided he had to show me the beautiful view (of the harbour with Liberty etc) 10mins before closing and I was too polite to tell him "sorry but I'd rather read about Jewish communities in NYC". Bad move. The view is very boring (seen it 10 times before) and then of course he chatted me up, and when I said I had no interest in him, or in fact anyone, and no he could not have my number to call me in England, he went "ok museum closed, all out!" (with 5mins to go!!!). *lol*

Aaanyway. Since I was down there already I went to take a boring pic of the NYSE (missed that yesterday and one should have one. a pic. not a NYSE) and a few of the cute little Trinity Church. Then I got on the subway and came back up here to Times Square to, um, go online. Maybe next I'll go to the other Subway to get yet another Italian BMT (I already have 3 NYC Subway stamps lol) and then home to watch TV... ja.

Kal called me last night. :x :D He has the cuuuuutest giggle!! ;)) Jimmy should call me again tonight. :D But since I am already talking to him on Yahoo I guess he won't. But he will come see us on Thursday. :D Um yeah that's pretty much it from me. For now. I hope you enjoyed my little links-report. It's like visiting NYC without actually being here, right? :D *lol*

PS I love love love love New York!!! :wh

People say...

"Well, I had lunch, d just had some sort of cake thing."

and a 'cake thing' can't be lunch?!

Subway is really tasty.

everything was closed on Staten Island Monday. Monday's a fairly typical closure day for tourist things tho.

Posted by: Clarissa on Wed May 25, 2005 at 20:26

Things are closed on Sundays in this countries, so I find BOTH MOndays and Tuesdays weird.

Posted by: JarJar on Wed May 25, 2005 at 21:55

Yeah but not tourist things, that would be stupid since there are a lot more tourists on weekends.
I'm pretty sure it's the same in Norway.
